MSUN recognizes that collaboration is key to sustainable development. It strengthens partnerships with national agencies, international institutions, NGOs, and local governments to expand research, extension, and innovation programs. These alliances ensure that MSUN’s initiatives align with global development priorities while remaining responsive to local needs, making the university a vital contributor to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
MSUN actively collaborates with regional NGOs and government agencies to advance SDG-related policies. The University contributes to identifying key challenges, developing strategies, modelling future scenarios, and monitoring interventions, ensuring policies are evidence-based, adaptive, and impactful for sustainable regional development.
MSUN explores new collaboration with Barangay Tagbalogo for Sustainable Development
As a catalyst for change, Mindanao State University at Naawan continues to strengthen collaboration with key community stakeholders to advance local development initiatives. On January 17, 2024, Director for Extension Mariefe B. Quiñones participated in the Barangay Council session of Tagbalogo to explore potential areas of partnership between the University and the barangay.
MSUN joins Linangkayan Council for coastal and IEC projects
On January 24, 2024, the Office of the Extension Division actively participated in the regular session of the Linangkayan Barangay Council, marking another step in our ongoing series of barangay visits within Naawan, Misamis Oriental. The primary aim of these visits is to cultivate partnerships that contribute to community empowerment and development. Harry Kenn T. Dela Rosa, University Extension Specialist, took the opportunity to elucidate the diverse range of programs and services offered by MSU at Naawan, encouraging collaboration with Barangay Linangkayan.
MSUN strengthens ties with Barangay Lubilan
On January 19, 2024, the Office of the Extension Division of Mindanao State University at Naawan actively participated in the regular session of the Barangay Council of Lubilan, Naawan, Misamis Oriental. This engagement forms part of MSUN’s broader initiative to connect with local communities and promote inclusive development through collaboration and empowerment.
Basic Entrepreneurship Seminar for Youth and Young Farmers
On October 30, 2024, the Local Government Unit of Naawan, in collaboration with the DTI Misamis Oriental Provincial Office, hosted a Basic Entrepreneurship Seminar at the New Naawan Town Hall. This enriching event brought together youth and young farmers from Mindanao State University at Naawan, equipping them with essential skills to drive economic growth and innovation in our community.
The Basic Entrepreneurship Seminar aimed to equip young people, particularly students and young farmers, with foundational knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship. This initiative by the Local Government Unit of Naawan, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental, was designed to inspire the youth to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path, empowering them to contribute to local economic development.
MSUN promotes responsible SEAtizenship through Clean Ocean Project in coastal barangays
In its continuous effort to promote environmental stewardship and responsible SEAtizenship, on February 21, 2024, the team Clean Ocean from Mindanao State University at Naawan recently conducted the final leg of its project, “Clean Ocean: Community Learning Sessions on Solid Waste Segregation for Households in Coastal Areas.”
MOA signing with MSUNFSTDI and LGU Naawan
Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN), MSUN Foundation for Science and Technology Development, Inc. (MSUNFSTDI), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Naawan have formalized their commitment to sustainable environmental practices by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the “Grow Talabaan Program Phase 2” at the Office of the Chancellor today, November 12, 2024.

On November 6-8, 2024, a delegation from Mindanao State University at Naawan, led by Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa, attended the East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress 2024 held at the Xiamen International Conference Center Hotel in Xiamen, China.
MSUN delegates attend Global Conference on Ocean Cooperation and Development in China
Mindanao State University at Naawan delegates, including Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa and Dr. Anabelle Dece A. Espadero participated in the prestigious Global Conference on Ocean Cooperation and Development held at Ocean University of China in Qingdao, China, from October 24 to 25, 2024. The event, which brought together global leaders in marine science and education, marked a significant milestone in fostering international partnerships and academic collaboration.
