SDG 1: No Poverty
SDG 1: No Poverty
Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) plays a pivotal role in alleviating poverty through education, livelihood enhancement, and community-based development programs. The university’s extension and outreach initiatives equip local residents—especially those in coastal and upland communities—with practical skills in aquaculture, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. Through technology transfer, micro-enterprise development, and sustainable resource use training, MSUN helps families increase their income potential and reduce economic vulnerability. These initiatives reflect the university’s strong commitment to empowering marginalized sectors and supporting inclusive growth across Northern Mindanao.
MSUN actively collaborates with regional NGOs and government agencies to advance SDG-related policies. The University contributes to identifying key challenges, developing strategies, modelling future scenarios, and monitoring interventions — ensuring policies are evidence-based, adaptive, and impactful for sustainable regional development.
