As a catalyst for change, Mindanao State University at Naawan continues to strengthen collaboration with key community stakeholders to advance local development initiatives. On January 17, 2024, Director for Extension Mariefe B. Quiñones participated in the Barangay Council session of Tagbalogo to explore potential areas of partnership between the University and the barangay.
Barangay Tagbalogo has previously benefited from various MSU at Naawan extension programs, including training on forage production for goat raisers, tilapia farming, and the provision of portable solar dryers, all of which support improved livelihood and food security.
During the meeting, the discussion focused on development priorities consistent with national and global policy directions in environmental stewardship, community resilience, and sustainable resource management. The barangay sought assistance in acquiring bamboo seedlings for riverbank rehabilitation, strengthening its tree nursery, and improving solid waste management. These priorities reflect a shared commitment to responsible land use, community safety, and ecological conservation.
The session aligns with MSU at Naawan’s continuing efforts to build strong local partnerships that promote inclusive and sustainable growth. This initiative is part of the University’s plan to engage all ten barangays of Naawan, ensuring that development programs are community-driven, responsive, and anchored in long-term policy goals.
