On May 23, 2025, the proponents of the DOST-GIA funded project, “Microplastic Capture through Electrostatically-Assisted Silica-Modified Substrate: A Novel Environmental Mitigation Approach to Microplastic Pollution (MicroCapture),” conducted a courtesy call and project presentation with Taguibo Aquatech Solutions Corporation (TASC) and Butuan City Water District (BCWD).
Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, Project Leader, led meaningful discussions with key officials from both organizations, headed by Mr. Eddie Richard R. Lagnada (TASC) and Engr. John Michael Y. Benito (BCWD). Both agencies expressed their full support and interest in the project’s objectives and potential impact.
Also in attendance were Dr. Benjoe Rey B. Visayas, MSUN Balik-Scientist; Ms. Penelope P. Almonte, RCh., REY Labs staff; and project members Mr. Renzo Luis Reazo, RCh., Ms. Lea Navidad, MSc., and Mr. Justine B. Benitez.
All parties look forward to the success of the MicroCapture project and future collaborations aimed at developing sustainable water solutions, especially in mitigating the growing threat of microplastic pollution.
