The Futures Thinking workshop titled "Framing the Futures of Mindanao State University at Naawan" holds a great impact on the university's journey towards global recognition in research and education within the Philippines, under the stewardship of Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa.
With the collective efforts of academic, administrative, research, and extension leaders, MSU at Naawan is steadily progressing towards its envisioned future.
Held over two days at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City on March 21-22, 2024, the workshop brings together key figures including the chancellor, vice chancellors, directors, deans, heads, and staff from various offices.
Moreover, the event features distinguished speakers who provide valuable insights and guidance on strategic foresight, particularly focusing on Intergenerational Fairness, a crucial aspect for shaping the future of MSU at Naawan.
Mr. Emmanuel R. De Guia, Resident Futurist under the Senate Committee on SDGs, Innovation, and Futures Thinking, initiates thought-provoking discussions by challenging the leaders with fundamental questions such as "What is MSUN’s value?" and "What is the university's domain?" These questions serve as catalysts for deep reflection and strategic foresighting, urging the participants to articulate the core values and overarching goals that will guide MSUN into the future.
Ms. Jalaine Joyce V. Malabanan, Course Specialist from the Open University of the Philippines, delves into Megatrends, Trends, and Drivers of Change, equipping the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the concept of Futures Thinking. Her presentation encourages the attendees to broaden their perspectives, embrace change, and foster a culture of perpetual learning and shedding of outdated habits.
Dr. Michville A. Rivera, Dean of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, complements the discussions by providing practical insights and strategies for navigating the complexities of future uncertainties.
As Certified Practicing Futurists and Officers of the Philippine Future Thinking Society, the speakers bring a wealth of expertise and experience to guide MSU at Naawan in its strategic foresight endeavors.
