Seventy-seven bright and eager students from the Philippine Science High School – Caraga Region Campus, accompanied by REY Laboratories, embarked on an enriching laboratory and hatchery tour at Mindanao State University at Naawan - Institute of Fisheries Research and Development (IFRD), on January 26, 2024.
This immersive educational visit was designed to prepare the students for future careers in science and technology by offering them first-hand exposure to cutting-edge research and practical applications in the fields of nanotechnology, microplastics analysis, and aquaculture science. Through interactive demonstrations and guided explorations of MSUN’s advanced research facilities, the students gained valuable insights into the university’s ongoing initiatives in sustainable fisheries and marine innovation.
The event not only served as a platform to bridge theoretical learning with real-world applications, but also ignited curiosity and inspired a deeper interest in scientific inquiry among the participating scholars. The exposure to complex topics and innovative techniques helped them understand the relevance of scientific research in addressing today’s environmental and food security challenges.
More importantly, this collaborative endeavor lays the groundwork for possible future partnerships between MSU at Naawan, REY Laboratories, and PSHS-Caraga. It exemplifies the shared commitment of these institutions to nurturing the next generation of scientists, fostering a culture of inquiry, innovation, and community-centered research.
