MSUN Students Lead Coastal Cleanup Drive in Celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day

On September 21, 2024, students of Mindanao State University at Naawan actively participated in a coastal cleanup activity in Barangay Poblacion, Naawan, Misamis Oriental, as part of their CWTS/ROTC program in observance of International Coastal Cleanup Day. Guided by their faculty coordinators, student volunteers worked together to remove marine debris and restore the cleanliness of the shoreline.
The activity highlights the critical importance of coastal cleanups in protecting marine ecosystems. Marine litter, particularly plastics, poses serious threats to marine life, fisheries, and coastal communities. By removing waste from the coastline, participants help prevent pollution from entering the ocean, reduce risks to biodiversity, and contribute to the overall health of marine environments.
Beyond its immediate environmental impact, the initiative also serves as a valuable educational experience. It strengthens environmental awareness, promotes civic responsibility, and empowers students to become proactive stewards of nature. Through collective action, the MSU at Naawan community demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and ocean conservation.
Let this initiative inspire continued action toward preserving our seas for future generations.
