On March 19, 2025, the MSU ATBI hosted a benchmarking visit for seven student representatives from the MSU-IIT College of Economics, Business, and Accountancy (CEBA) Student Executive Council for Project HIKAYAT.
The delegation was formally welcomed by Dr. Aida Perpetua, Director of DARES (Develops, Adopts, Responds, Encourages, and Sustains Center), the extension and community development arm of the university, along with MSUN ATBI project members who facilitated discussions and site visits. The visit aimed to deepen students' understanding of agribusiness, aquaculture, and sustainable farming through direct exposure to modern technologies and industry practices.
Participants explored the university's research and production facilities, including the ATBI, where they learned about the university’s commercialization efforts for research-based and extension technologies. They visited various hatcheries and grow-out facilities, specializing in breeding, production, and other aquaculture operations. Additionally, they toured the campus nursery for plants and forestry resources, tilapia farms, and livestock facilities, including goat and poultry farms.
This initiative aims to encourage students to pursue innovation in agri-aqua business and sustainable enterprise development. It recognizes the need to cultivate a new generation of professionals committed to supporting the agri-aqua sectors while addressing the challenges posed by an aging workforce in these critical yet often undervalued industries.
