MSU at Naawan successfully hosted the Disaster Risk Reduction – Climate Change Adaptation and Health (DRR-CCAH) Research and Development Proposal Consultation on February 18, 2025. The event gathered MSUN faculty researchers and representatives from DOST- PCHRD who serves as consultants, to explore opportunities for health research funding and collaboration. It served as a platform for MSU at Naawan faculty members to align their research initiatives with national priorities, contributing to disaster resilience, climate change adaptation, and health research.
The consultation began with Mrs. Guiddita L. Gelera, Senior Science Research Specialist, who highlighted the crucial role of faculty researchers in addressing health and environmental challenges through innovative research. Ms. Kyra Pacannuayan, Project Manager, introduced the DRR-CCAH Program and its priority topics, providing insights into key research areas under the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA) 2023-2028.
Ms. Ma. Anne L. Lobete, Project Manager, guided participants through the concept proposal submission requirements, outlining the necessary formats and documents essential for securing funding support. Dr. Karell Jo Capilto led the workshop and mentoring sessions, providing faculty researchers with hands-on guidance in refining their proposals. Facilitators also conducted one-on-one mentoring sessions, offering valuable feedback to enhance research ideas and improve proposal quality.
The event concluded with an inspirational message from Chancellor Elnor C. Roa, who reaffirmed MSU at Naawan’s commitment to fostering a research-driven academic environment. She encouraged faculty researchers to take advantage of available funding opportunities and develop projects that address pressing societal challenges.
Faculty researchers are reminded of the upcoming DOST-PCHRD Health R&D capsule proposal submission for the 2027 Call for Proposals, which will be open from March 1–15, 2025. This presents a valuable opportunity to secure funding for research projects aligned with national health priorities, particularly in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and health resilience. Interested researchers are encouraged to prepare their proposals in accordance with DOST-PCHRD guidelines and submit them within the designated period.
MSU at Naawan extends its gratitude to PCHRD, the resource speakers, and all participating faculty researchers for making the event a success. The university remains committed to supporting impactful research initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and resilience.
